Basingstoke Voluntary Action offer one-to-one appointments, either in person or over the telephone, giving you the chance to tell us about your own interests, what you want to get out of volunteering, and the skills and commitment you can offer. We can then help you to identify which organisations can benefit most from your input and which opportunities you might enjoy.

Basingstoke Voluntary Action (www.bvaction.org.uk) is a charity organisation that has been providing support and leadership to the voluntary sector and local community of Basingstoke since 1965. Whether you are a charitable, voluntary or community group looking for help and advice, or a resident wanting information on community services , charities or activities, you can find all the help and advice you need at Basingstoke Voluntary Action.

Working in partnership with the Borough Council our priorities are:

  • Development – To pro-actively identify needs in the local community and facilitate improvement in service provision to meet those needs.
  • Training– To provide access to training courses and seminars for local voluntary and community organisations (VCO).
  • Support – To assist local VCO to function more effectively and deliver quality services to their users, members or constituents.
  • Liaison – To facilitate effective communication, networking and collaboration among local voluntary and community groups.
  • Representation and Strategic Partnership – To enable the diverse views of the local voluntary and community sector to be represented to external bodies. Facilitating effective working relationships and two-way communication embeds the sector as an integral part of local planning and policy making.
  • Volunteering – To support and increase the quality, quantity, impact and accessibility of volunteering locally, including processing Disclosure and Barring Service requirements.
